switching to 20g?

i have a 55g now and will be switching to a most likely 20g with remora skimmer and 20 to start and 30 to end with lbs of l/r. what type of lighting and suggestions on particular ones to get almost all types of corals and low level light clams. and i want to move my sand to the 20g am i safe to move as much of the sand as i need, or should i just be seeding it? does it have to recycle? thanks

I would move as much sand as you need to fill the tank, or you could seed some new stuff. If you can afford it, actually I would probably seed some new stuff. You might be able to trade your old LS for some new dead sand at the LFS. Also, i have a 20H and run 150w of VHO. But if you want it all, go with a single 250w MH, probably 20K double ended radium would give the best growth and coloration without supplementation.
