If I wanted to switch my 55 gal from crushed coral to live sand can I first let the live sand cure in a smaller tank and then add it to my established tank or can I add it directly? I have started out slowly and things are rocking on along but I think I want to switch it to sand. I only have 3 green chromis damsels and a clown fish. I also have a cleaner shrimp and 8 red leg hermits. Animals have been in for a little over a month and don't plan to add any other fish for another month or 2 to let the bioload stablize.
