I am switching my 39 to a 55. My question is how long will it take for the 55 to be ready to transfer my fish. I will be using the 39 gallons of water from the old tank and 40lbs. of rock from the old tank. The 55 has been set up for 3 days. New live sand, 16 gallons of new R/O water, old rock and two filters running with the temp matching the old tank. All the water perimeters are testing fine. So how long should I wait to transfer the fish?

The September issue of Aquarium FIsh Magazine has an article in it about moving tanks. I think you can read articles online if you go to the site www.aquariumfish.com. The author doesn't give a definite answer on the timing issue but advises that you ensure you treat the fish like you were just bringing them home, and properly acclimate them.
Let us know how it goes for those of us who plan to go bigger in the future.
