T-Minus... the countdown has begun

Well looks as if I'll be over 1000 posts before I start my first cycle. I have next week off and plan on ordering 45# box of LR during that week. I'm very anxious and have a lot to do before then. Just wanted to thank all who have been helpful in my research and major thanks to SWF for keeping archives. I was always taught that proper preparation prevents poor performance and I'm definitely over prepared. I may have taken that a little further that I needed. I have extra timers, powerheads, heaters, thermometers, test kits, buckets, and more. I'm stoked and can't wait to begin the slow process of establishing my reef.
Thanks again everyone.

Good Luck! It`s good to see you took the time to get the knowledge and preparation instead of just diving in as many do and learn the hard way .

Thanks. I'm sure I'll still make a few mistakes but I'll always have SWF to help me out.

Good luck! .... I'm sure you'll do fine.

By the way .... shouldn't that read "Count Down" next to your avatar?

Good luck with everything! I will have researched for more than a year before I even setup my tank this October.

Early, what kind of system are you setting up. I haven't seen your posts regarding your intentions. what gallon tank, etc.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

I've tried to read some of your past posts, did you figure out what salt you are going with? I am having all kinds of trouble with my ph with IO. There may be another problem, but I am staying in the 7.7-8.0 range. I have not tested for calcium or alkalinity.

I had that problem too when i first started my tank. I started out using IO salt too. My PH started getting better when i added my skimmer, and switched to Reef Crystals. I am not sure what made the difference, but i am around 8.3/8.3 when before i was lucky to get 8.0

I am in my seventh week of establishment. I have had a skimmer since day one. I may have to switch salts. I am almost out anyhow. Maybe reef crystals, tropic marin, or oceanic.

Well I know two clowns for sure but am up in the air about the next fish. It's tough b/c I don't want more that 3 total. I want a stationary fish with a good personality. To be honest I haven't looked at many fish at any stores just pictures on the web. I'm thinking about a yellow watchman or a blenny but I've got a cycle and the QT of my clowns to decide.
Hey today I decided to put my ss65 in-sump but am in the process of determinining if I can hang it on my acrylic baffle so that the intake and the return are in the first chamber. This way I can still have a little fuge or at least a place where my chaeto won't be sucked into the skimmers intake.
Thanks for your help.

Ive used I.O. in the past with no problems . I switched to Oceanic about a year ago and was fine until I recently bought a RO unit . PH was very low with Oceanic , like 7.4 . Just bought some I.O. and so far so good .

Honestly Bang Guy is a mystery to me. I don't think he's given many "nice tank" replies. He's short and sweet but like a dictionary but when asked a question in the form of google's "advanced search" he dishes out an encyclopedia style answer. It's funny when you know people by letters only and the images that appear. Sounds like a topic for the Aquarium.
