T-Moble

my husbands job is requiring us to buy a laptop and t-mobile so that he can communicate with the company we work for while he is on the road. (there are a couple of companies out there but we chose t-mobile)
anyway, anyone else use this service? how do you like it? right now i cant even get sign on. they said it could take up to 24 hours.

I would definately check T-Mobile's area of coverage before signing on. Comparing all the carriers, T-Mobile has one of the smallest coverage areas of all. Personally I use Verizon, travel all over and rarely if ever am out of area.... They also have the largest coverage area.

I would go with Verizon also or maybe Nextel although I don't travel much anymore those 2 seem to be the better provders. I dropped AT&T at the bigging of this year 2 go 2 Verizon.

I'm looking at the different cell providers now, T-Mobile has horrible coverage in my area though.
I've been completely happy with Sprint PCS for a few years now. Only reason I'm considering switching, probally to Nextel, is that Sprint wants to charge me more for a new phone than a new-customer.

our regular cell service is nextel (nextel dosnt offer the air card for notebooks YET), nextel is a great cell service and the walkie talkie service is incredible all over the country, we know lots of people all over that also have it and they come in clear as a bell.
verizon sucks in my area. we signed up for the t-mobile, they seem to be the best price and have lots of coverage on the eastcoast here. hopefully it works out.
remember, this is strictly for laptop/notebook use (t-mobile), not for cell service. approx 30/mo unlimited internet on the road. no hot spot stuff.

$30 a month for unlimited net access? What kind of connection speeds? I have to pay twice that for a cable modem where I'm at.

since this is all new to me i am assuming the connection speed is 56k?, i will let you know how it goes though if you like. its sorta like a cell phone in a computer -like that commercial with the kid in the football field, so i am not 100% sure of the speed. it has its own sim card so maybe its quicker?
i have cable modem at home but like i said in my first post my husbands job is requiring us to get this so it will be an extra expense on top of my cable modem!!!

sprint charges 80/mo for this same service. i talked to the guy at dell that helped me set up my network and he said he is definatly gonna call t-mobile cuz sprint is too much. my brother in ohio in the same business was going to go with sprint and said the same thing. the guy from dell was online looking it up while he was helping me trouble shoot some stuff. lol
if you go to their website the coverage area is pretty good IMO

verizon is fine, but it just dosnt work in my area, to many bare spots with no towers. my dad had verizon and had to switch to nextel.

first use today, he said it was slow, like a 56k, even slower while driving. but it serves the purpose for us
