can i keep zoos, polyps, shrooms, rics, mby a clam, xenia(mby), leather, umm stuff like that under this light with teh clam at the very top...????
I would not suggest it but im sure it might work if it is very high up.
With a Nova Extreme you may have some issues, less likely with the more powerful Nova Extreme 'Pro' model as it has individual reflectors. What are the tank dimensions and the size/wattage of the light?
First off I would not suggest that light ( it is a cheap light while i know a lady who uses one she is looking to upgrade as soon as possible. ) She says it works but obviously if she is looking for a better light it is not performing like she wants. She is also not running clams which I do not think will make it unless you tie them to the light and let it hang about a inch from it.. go Thru the first 5 pages of these threads you will find out more on lights than you ever wanted to know.
You need to first find a price range you need to be in then stretch that another 200 plus and then buy a real light IMO.
tek, aquanetics, oceanic steer clear off currents IMO. Parabolic reflectors are the devil.

here we go again. telling people what light to buy and not to buy. yet couldnt keep any corals or inverts alive himself. i know many people r very happy with the nova pro, and r able to keep anything under it, including myself. look at those amazing sps and clams i am able to keep.

When you speak know your facts. My corals and fish are doing ver well thanks for your concern. I have yet to lose a ccoral or an invert but you know what goes on at my house.
The nova pro extreme with giesemann bulbs
are so much better than a lot of lights on the market so if you go that route buy bulbs it will be the difference Fromm night to day.
If you would like to see a 72' with the regular bulbs it comes with on and then with the giesemann bulbs lemme know I can make that happen Just takes me taking a 2 hour ride up to good ol' saint Louis a week earlier than I expected too but hey i get bored on the weekends.

Oh agreed these are under stock lights not debating that they are not thriving. I do not remember ever saying they were.

The nova extreme pro would be OK for the clam I think, as long as you change the junk bulbs out for good ones.
I think I said that just right up there if ya look.....yep sure did 1:55 p.m. today guess you and I are on the same page I'm just saying it first but hey parroting me is not taken offensively
Just to clarify 20 years ago plus I and a friend had 20 plus tanks as stated in a previous thread. Maybe before just saying something research would be good. Tons have changed hence being new to this hobby again as nothing seems to be the same. I remember working in a pet shop 25 years ago or so and we could not give a skimmer away now everyone sees why they need one. Like I said 20 some years ago I have forgotten almost everything I knew and what i remember is not what is the norm now... I am however not mentally handicapped and catch on pretty quick and when I do something I do it 110%
Now that that's settled, back to the OP's question.
If you used decent bulbs you should be fine, but the clam would have to be up high.
From what I understand, the Aquactinics reflectors will fit nicely in that fixture. Maybe they'd be worth a look.

For a little over 100 more you can get the pro model that you can keep anything under! I would return you light when it comes and get the pro. But if you only want softies and lps then just keep what ya got
Softies would be like shrooms, xenia, leathers, zoas, etc.
LPS- frogspawn, hammer, brain, galaxia, torch etc.
SPS- Montipora, acropora, etc, clams also have similar lighting requirements.
