T5HO power for reef

Ok, so i decided i was going to replace my T5HO system with another The only thing is, how many bulbs minimum could i have? the one i have now has 8 bulbs. i have an assortment of corals-SPS, LPS, softies, leather, and a clam. i also continue on buying more SPS, and LPS so i was wondering how many bulbs i would need- 4,6, or 8 bulbs

well an 8 bulb is a huge amount of light for a 55g. what t5 system do u have u only need a 4 bulb for a 55g

it was a Catalina fixture. i got it for $150 used, with 2 month old bulbs, with 4 extra bulbs, so it was a huge steal. So a 4 bulb fixture would be fine for everything i have?

yes a 4 bulb will be more than enough. but if u get a 4 bulb get tek and if u want a nicer fixture get the aquatinics tx5, its a 5 bulb. excellent fixture
