Your profile says 55 gallon, I wouldn't advise having any tang in a tank that small....As to your ?, sure hypothetically, given appropriate room, tangs and puffers make good tankmates.

I would not advise you to add a tang to your tank . Your tank being a 55 gallon does not provide the needed space that a yellow tang will requier long term . It is also not going to be any where near big enough for a porcupine puffer . Some good alternates would be any of the toby family of puffers . The porcupine will reach the size of a football and need a much larger tank where as the toby puffers stay fairly small and are perfect for a semi aggresive 55 gallon tank .
Instead of a tang you might look into a lemon peel angel . They are a dwarf angel and are very atractive in my opinion . That would still give you the yellow color of fish and they dont grow very large .
