Why do I keep reading that it is not good to put two tangs together but I've seen a number of people on this board that have two or more? Can I put a Chevron and Yellow together in a 110gal reef tank?

you can have 2 tangs in a tank they just have to have different genus's. easiest way is to make sure they have different body shapes.

I agree - I have three, all look completely differnt in shape and color and they have no idea they are of the same genus. In the wild tangs of differnet genus school together without any trouble (PROVIDING THERE"S ENOUGH FOOD) - make usre there's enough to eat in the tank.
Two separate algae clips will help - I have three located near each tangs sleeping quarters.

Tangs of the same genus, even the same species canbe kept in the same tank provided it is large enough i have 4 yellow tangs in my 220 and it's kinda fun to watch their follow the leader antics!

You should be fine with a yellow and a chevron in the same tank. If possible add them at the same time or the yellow second to reduce fighting. All tangs will fight to some degree at first.
