tangs!!! :)

so alot of you may have read my posts about getting sharks and rays and crap but iwas at the henry doorly zoos aquarium yesterday and i saw how boring they can be if theyre not black tip reef sharks lol. so im just gonna do a reef WITHOUT sharks.
ive always had tangs in all my reefs but could only get like one bc of my tank sizes. now i have a 150 gallon 8 foot long tank and i was wondering if i could get like 3 or more small yellow tangs in here. let me know! thanks!

They might be okay. You really should not put more than two tangs together who have similar shaped bodies, i.e. purple and yellow. But someone may have success with it. Your tank might be large enough but I don't thinK it is a good idea. Maybe two different types of tangs? Let some others chime in here.

yeah ive never kept two of the same shape cuz i was scared of them fighting. i have succesfully kept 2 blue tangs and a yellow tang without fighting

multiple yellow tangs should be fine with each other as long as you introduce them in the tank at the same time

yeah i have zero fish in there right now cuz the cycles just ending. ill probably get all the tangs last so when i dont add new fish for them to pick on

Provided there's enough space and algae for them to graze on go for it.
Odd numbers tend to work fine if they're all introduced at the same time.

yes.. I agree.. introduce them at the same time and you should be ok.. they will probably fight for the first 48 hours or so then they will likely settle down

oh yes ive seen how they act to other fish for the first day or two (not pretty) lol. mine have usually calmed down afterwards.

I have a 270g tank and I have 4 blue hippo, 1 purple, 2 yellow, 1 sailfin, and 1 powder brown that have been together for 2-4 years depending on when they were aquired.

thanks for the info :)
so 150 gallons is big enough though right?
What are the dimensions? 8' length is good, but if it's only 150gal it must be very narrow which means that once you get your rock in there you'll loose a lot of swimming room.
