Tank breakdown and storage

Hey Guys,
Well, it breaks my heart.. but the time came and I had to move. My system had to come down for a while. All the livestock is safe and happy in a friends systems, but my question relates to my tank(s) themselves.
I have two 40 gallon breeder tanks, one of them is a sump with partitions. The only place I currently have available to store them will be a garage... and its not climate contolled. It gets pretty hot in there mid-day.. and it will get below freezing in winter.
Are these conditions too extreme to store the tanks?
Thanks in advance,
Neil

Well, I can't speak for the freezing side personally, but I have LOTS of experience with heat, LOL. My first saltwater tank was a 55g that I found in a non-climate controlled storage unit down in Ft Lauderdale FL. It regularly got into the triple digits in the summertime in that storage unit. The tank had been languishing in the storage unit for AT LEAST a decade. And yet the silicone seams were perfectly fine. In fact, this tank is still being used by a friend of mine with the same sealant.
I think as long as you don't have any radical swings in temp (freeze/heat/freeze in short periods) then you'll be fine. Silicone is pretty tough stuff, and is meant to withstand a lot of temp variation.

I've stored tanks outside for years. I typically turn them over where they won't fill up with water for long term storage. Never really had a problem with swinging temps affecting silicone a whole lot. A freshwater tank has sat on my back patio for about 15 years now... outside in the weather. No problems...
