depends on your critter count, amount of water flow across the sand, and how much you feed your fish.
I clean my live sand anyway - it looks nicer when you mix up the top level. I use a 28.00 substrate vacuum.

i would not disturb, or vaccuum the sand bed, you will remove crittersin vaccuuming, and disturb the bacteria in the lower layers, you want the sand to remain undisturbed, so that the lower layers remain oxygen free, without the anaerobic zones, you cannot breed the bacteria needed for the natural nitrate reduction process and it would not be probable, which is the reason for having a dsb

The point of having LS is not having to take care of it as well as bio filter but all your critters should take care of that. --- Bill

That would depend of the depth of this mixed substrate, and if your 55 lbs of aragonite is aragonite sand or aragonite shell hash, mixed in with the CC.
