THe only thing is that none of the fish stores sell it and I can't find it cheap on the internet. Can you add lr after you setup the tank?

IMO live rock is a neccesity. It acts as a natural filtration. You could add it before you add livestock. After that you need to cure it in a seperate container before adding it. I would strongly recommend using live rock to cycle your tank. Its best to get everything and set everything up right the first time and get everything the way you want. This way you dont have to worry about it down the line. This site offers live rock at a decent price. AND please do not put any fish in that tnak until it has completed its cycle. at LEAST 3-4 weeks.

Its a start. At least you'll have some in there. General rule is 1-1.5lbs of lr per gallon.
