tank Cycling

So my tank has started cycling. Besides testing the water, is there anything to do .... I know the ammonia will spike.. Then the nitrites... then the nitrates but is there anything specific I need to do. I have read that water changes are good and water changes are bad... I have some damsels and LR in the tank now should I just let it be until everything levels off?

You can test the water every seven days if you want, but test kits are expensive and time is free, so I just waited a month. Get ready to get attacked for cycling with damsels. While it is very painful and permantly damaging to the fish, I will leave it at that :)

Heh I was very civil compared to what some people might say. You can use a dead shrimp to cycle just the same... those guys at the store just like selling fish is why they recommend damsels.

I will keep my fingers crossed for the little fellas. Not a great deal I can do about it now. I dont think the LFS would take them back for 3-4 weeks.
