someone said that they would not recommend to put any tangs in a 29g tank at any time. is this true? thanks.

I would not recommend one for a 29 gallon. They need a lot of room to swim around and they get fairly large also they are rather territorial. Hope this helps a little.

Sorry - your tank is a bit too smll. My 55 gal isn't even big enough realistically.

Get the book Marine Fish: 500 Need to Know Species by Scott W. Michael. Costs around 20.00. It will tell you minimum tank requirements, what to feed, how big a particular species gets, it's compatibilty with other species.
IMO no tang should be put in a 29g tank.
Mature yellow tangs need 75g minimum.
That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
