beth Administrator Staff member Nov 14, 2003 #2 Got it. When you change the water are you buffering? At this point don't buffer. High or even normal pH in the presence of ammonia makes the ammonia TOXIC. You may want to drop the pH down a tad slowly if possible. Aim for 8.0.
