I am getting my FOWLR tank back on track now. I have a 135 gallon tank and a few firefish that i bought from a suspect store, hindsight being 20/20, brought in some sort of parasite that whipped out my entire tank. I left the tank completely free of fish for two months before adding two royal grammas and a few weeks later a pair of true percs and an anemone. They have all been doing great for a few weeks now an I could not be more excited to restart. I also used a cold ster IL filter before the outbreak and have switched to a 4 stage RO/DI unit and have upgraded my sump and pump. Everything is working well so far I just need to stay away from that one store.

Not at all. They actually hang out together. I also have added a flame angel, a lemonpeel, and a ebili angel. All of the dwarf angels get along well also. I plan to add three more dwarfs.

Wow, I'm really surprised that the dwarfs and gammas are ok together. They usually fight until one dies...
Pics of your tank?
Everyone loves pics lol.

My girlfriend is on her way with her camera so they should be up soon. I have found that with dwarfs the most important part is males and females. My flame is a small female and the lemonpeel and ebili are males. i did not really want the ebili because he is smaller than the lemonpeel and he and the flame had already been established in the tank. The lemonpeel fought the ebili for a day or so but I shut the lights off and rearranged my live rock. rearranging the rock has seemed to destroy their territories and that has worked well for me also. I also think the more the better because what fighting there is gets spread around.

May not be the best pics but I am no photographer either. Let me know what you think,

I like the last picture, the fish look beautiful. I hope when mature they continue to get along. You sure can't get colors like that out of freshwater fish.
What size is your tank?

Thanks, siptang. I love the tank but it is hard to clean because of the height.

Unfortunately it does not always look so nice. I am curious if anyone else has tried to put has tried to have a dwarf angel tank of sorts. I am wondering what kind of success they had and what tips they may have for me.

I don't know if I would really call it a dwarf angel tank but I do plan on having 6 or 7 of them in my tank. I know it may be difficult and do not want to throw fish in when they will cetianly be killed but I have thought it through and do have a plan that I hope works. There are just so many dwarfs that I like and their price is much better than the large angels.

My tip is to stop. You have juveniles, not adults. The meanness comes out in adulthood, get different tanks if you want and love all the varieties. You need to understand there is a reason why folks insist that only one per tank (including the books) and in a large tank you can get away with two...but 6 or 7...come on, you are being irrisponsible.

Well the thing is if you want to do it, you have to it all at once so that they don't kill each other fighting for their territory or you have to mix around the rock work so that everyone is bit lost and have to claim a new land for themselves.
Good luck and let us know!
I have been temped to add one more dwarf but I'm already over stocked and who am I kidding? I don't want to kill anything.

Flower, you don't think that there is something to spreading the aggression around. With on;y two the less dominate fish will bear the entirety of the harassment. The more that there are may cause a higher level of stress but the aggression will be spread throughout and could be manageable for the fish. One will become dominate but will not simply beat on one other fish. I also do not think that I am being irresponsible I have thought this through, I am not going to just dump all these fish in and let them duke it out.

There is more danger from aggression than just fin nipping. SWF get sick when they are stressed. A state of constant war within a community will cause you more grief than you can shake a stick at. Ich is a parasite and should it get to your tank...stressed fish are so suseptible they won't have a chance. HLLE, and eating problems to name just a few.
Moving the rock will not help much with angles, they travel in and around the rocks constantly, and they will fight any fish they consider a threat to the available food. Since angels eat the same food they recognize the others like themselves faster, and meet them with serious aggression.
So it isn't just a matter of territory. I know they are beautiful fish, I so totally agree with you on wanting a tank full of them...Oh how I wish. But you can't, and you shouldn't. I love wild animals too, but they belong in the forest not as my personal pets. Sometimes you have to be a grown up and admit some critters should not be kept... for their sake, because you love them.
