Tank Migration

I currently have a non reef ready 75g with live rock, live sand and a few fish, with canister filter. Replacing the canister with a sump w/fuge & skimmer, and replacing tank with a reef ready.
My plan is to:
- move rock into separate container, cover with water
- drain water into separate container, with fish (heat and circulate)
- collect live sand into bucket or two
With the existing tank out of comission,
* install sump
*place new tank
*install plumbing
*replace live sand, adding 20-40lbs new
*replace live rock
*replace water
let settle a day or so,
*then replace fish.
My concerns is: if my ceramic rings in canister hold a majority of benificial bacteria, wouldn't I loose all of it with the new set-up? If so, how best to minimize that loss?

I would think that if you placed the rings in the sump for a period of time then it would help take care of that. I would also place any other filtration from the canister into the sump for the initial start up/transition period.
