Tank Move

I am thinking about moving my 125 to another room of the house because of space issues. Now I have a 55 ( not running yet ). Could I put a couple power heads in the 55 let the tank cycle and throw in the fish then drain the other tank and move it then fill and go??? What is the proper way for this for someone who is looking ot relocate a tank?? Thanks <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

I guess it really depends on how soon you are plan to start the 125 back up again once it is moved. If you plan to move it and get started again in the same day I'm not sure you need to cycle the 55gal. You should be able to simply drain your 125gal tank into a storage vessel (use the 55gal if you want) then move the tank. Transfer the water back into the 125gal once moved. The fish will need a powerhed and heater while in the storage vessel but if it will only be a day or less they should do fine. Fish spend more time is worse conditions while being transported for sale. What type of filter do you use on your current setup? If you move it in one day you shouldn't need to recycle your 125 gal. again.

I move tanks all the time (maint. business) with no trouble, just put the fish in the tank water as jasim suggests and reuse the rest of the tank water.

All I use for a filer is Live Rock and Live Sand... And a sea clone protein. yes I would want the 125 back up and running the same day if possible.
