Guys if you can find tankraised fish and aquacultured rocks and corals buy them. I know they cost more money but here is a few good reasons why:
1) we has hobbist are depleting the ocean of its fish, rocks and corals.
2) they like the tank already cause thats where they came from.
3) they dont get sick as easy(mine havent Anyways)
4) they are easier to feed and care for
if yall thik of any thing else just post good or bad.

The 3 fish in my 75 gallon are tank raised because I know they have better chances of survival. My flame angel isn't going to be though.

Well thats kool that you have some though cause most ppl dont. I have some but not as many as i want. The lfs around my house doesnt carry them, but I always call my parents cause they live near a store that does. I have found some tank raised cheaper than wild.

I know my 2 false percs definetly are, I would bet on my tomato clown being so because he is a soldier, I know my lfs carry tank raised only if possible, but I'm not to sure as if coral beauties and lawnmower blennies can spawn in captivity. It would really take a lot of guilt off of me if I found out they could?

Hello,
I always look for tank raised stock and more of them are available locally now, than they were a year ago. I have a tank raised Hippo tang that since March has more than doubled in size and is active and healthy since day one.

I've posted on this topic several times here.
Buy Tank Raised when possible.
Another good reason is that when more breeders start getting into saltwater the prices will come down.

I am glad to see people are buying tank raised. It is good for the environment plus all the other reasons people have listed. I am trying to have a tank-bred only tank but it is difficult!!
So far the only fish I know I can get are: all types of clowns, gobies, pseudochromis, and the Asfur angel. Be careful because some of the fish sold as tank-bred are actually "tank-raised". This includes the tangs which are not captive bred. The difference is that tank-raised are taken from the reef in their larval/ juvenile state and brought up in a tank. Is there a difference? I don't know.
Has anyone else found different types of tank bred fish? If so would like to know which species you found.
