Tank Scrapers

I have an acrylic tank and I purchased an acrylic tank scraper from Kent Marine. I have the 3 foot version and the hand held one which both use the same type of scraper. Its an orange plastic piece that says its safe for acrylic. Well let me tell you its NOT. I have all kinds of tiny little scratches on the inside of the tank after cleaning the front. I made sure not to lodge any sand between the scrapper and the tank so thats not the problem. Any one else have this trouble? Also what can I do to fix it. Again, the scratches are tiny almost unnoticeble, but all OVER the tank. I haven't had the tank long (3 months) and it was kinda pricey being a 300 gal. Thanks for the help everyone.

Hey, I just got one too for my 65 gallon. I think it's the worst purchase I've ever made. It doesn't even scrape of my diatom algae efficiently at all, I also noticed that it made a few hairline scratches in my tank. After that it went straight into the trash. I wouldn't use it anymore, especially since you have a nice 300 gallon.

Thanks for the info. What do you all use that will not scratch the acrylic? I am going to look into the scratch remover kits. I think it will be quite a project! :)

Hey I was just wondering why you got a acrylic tank and not glass? Was it because it is lighter or the clear view?

The reason I got an acrylic tank was the clearer view. At the time I didn't know about the specialty type glass which is almost the same clarity as acrylic. Anyone know what you should do to scrape an acrylic tank without scratching it???
