my brother is going to turn his 30 gal into sw. he is wondering if his filter is ok. he has an eclipse 2 filter/light/hood combo. poor guy lost almost all of his freshwater fish <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" /> thanks for the info.

Although that setup will work,,,It is far from the ideal filter for a marine tank.The GPH is not high enough to keep up with a moderate fish load.But it can be done with the addition of a Deep Sand Bed(DSB) and lot's of live rock.Plus you will need a skimmer after the cycle is done.This is another problem with the eclipse systems hood.

I have that system xcept I have a Fuval 204 also. Its not the best for delicate inverts (ie corals) but its convienent and works nicely.
