I can buy a complete setup tank, hood, canopy, wet dry filter, all for $200. I havent seen it yet but if everything appears to be in good shape. Is that enough tank space to support a reef environment.
60 gallon
Oh sorry, it's a 60 gallon. I think he just has regular lighting for a salt water tank. I'll have to get new lights for a reef setup I'm sure.
A very nice start for 200 bucks, you will need to consider purchasing a protein skimmer and depending on the kind of corals you want you need to make an investment in new lights. Also do a search for sumps and refugiums on the board as you will benefit from these more than the wet/dry.
welcome and good luck.
Thats a good price for all that. If you are looking at egtting the rest of the stuff for a reef then do what I did and ask if your LFS is selling there old equipment for cheap. As they break down you upgrade to what you really need or want.
It turns out that 60 gallon was only 12 inches deep. I was told to get at least 18 inches so that I could stack the rocks backward. I decided to go for a larger tank. I am still looking. If you have any ideas. I've tried posting wanted ads on this site.
