Tank to sump ratio

I would use 25% min just to keep the water level up for the pumps not to send back bubbles and to handle the overflow, pipes =water in them. @ say a 225g tank =72"x20tx24w your water level drops 2" which is common when shuting pumps of without check valves just antisipon from the top.. That would be 15gal then the water from the plumbing skimmer ect.You need to keep some water in the sump. Keep above the pump, keep from evaporating so much.I prefer at least 1/2 full.I would go with at least 50g any less and I bet you wished you had more. its easier
