Tank vs. Peppermint Shrimp

Hi,
I am new to this message board and this is my first post so here goes! I have a 12 gallon nano cube tank with a 6-line wrasse, a clowfish, and a yellow gobi. I recently bought a peppermint shrimp which had a leg missing (I don't know if that would contribute to his survival rate or not). I purchased this little guy becuase I thought I could help him live and I figured what are his chances of someone else buying a shrimp with missing legs? I put him in the tank and he immediatly went and hid under a rock.
Now two weeks later, there is not sign of my peppermint shrimp. My question is, do wrasses eat peppermint shrimp? Do they hide all of time? In two weeks should I have seen him out and about?

He's gone. More than likely, he was eaten by hermit crabs. Probably the best $5 you ever spent, eh? By the way, there's a new saltwater store in Ahwatukee I just heard about. I'm going to check it out as soon as possible, if you're interested in hitching a ride.

Sure, I'll hitch a ride. I'll even chip in for gas and buy lunch. Why would hermit crabs eat something that is alive? Don't they wait until an animal is dead to feast on it?

I think your shrimp probably died of stress, given that it disappeared right away... maybe it didn't get acclimated correctly, or maybe the people you bought it from didn't acclimate it there. By the way- you sound cute. Would you like to have dinner tonight?

Stress? Maybe the stress of a missing leg was too much. I never thought about acclimation. I feel that I acclimated him correctly. No more peppermints for me. I bought it from a pet store so maybe I have learned my lesson...although I got my beloved clowfish from the same store and he is alive and healthy!
Dinner sounds lovely, especially if we can talk about fish.

So where are the best places in Phoenix area to get fish? My son is in college in Fullerton Ca. and I usually go there for fish (actually Anahiem) but I do more trips to Phoenix and I only heard about ***** just this trip, unfortunately I was already west of town (Avondale) heading back to Yuma. Where should I go and where shouldn't I go? Where in Awahtuke (sp?) is this "new" place?

It is a possibility the sixline got to it however fairly uncommon. I highly doubt that hermits did it. Peppermint shrimp are mainly nocturnal and hide alot. At night check with a flashlight to see if it is still in there.

I have a Six line wrasse and it loves to wonder all over my LR. I have a clearner shrimp that for some reason likes to stay close to my anemone. when i feed the take the shrimp goes crazy and will swim all over the place to get food, he doesnt care about being out in the open and stays every active & visable at all times. NO problems with any of my fish and the shrimp or the anemone.

My Peppermints hide by day..usually hanging upside down, swaying in a crevase...(only to be seen by flashlight) The cleaners on the other hand, come bounding out over anything in their way if any type of food (or object) is placed into the tank..I have one banded that comes and goes both day and night as he pleases...
