tankmates for puffer

I have a very active and slighty on the stupid side porc puffer. he is in a 250 gal tank and is about 3", i have only had him for a few months but would like to get him some tank mates. Does anyone know what fish might be compatible with him:help:

i'm so glad that your porky got a big home! porky is pretty much compatible with anything but the smallest fish.

When I had one I had a volitan, zebra moray, harlequin tusk, and a panther grouper. They all did fine, so I guess that he would be fine with those types of species. Hope this was helpful.

It depends on what you like. I had my puffer with other peaceful fish. They are very cool fish. They have a great personality. I had 2 bangaii, 2 clowns, 2 blue damsels with mine. Then I added a dragon wrasse. They all got along just fine. To my suprise non of them ever touched my starfish, pencil urchin, or my snails.

if you're really into puffers, you can set up a species tank. i personally like fishes with personalities. that's what makes this hobby so rewarding. actually this is what i''ve been trying to do. so far, i have map/dogface/immaculate/striped/porky/hovercraft box/cubicus box....and a bunch of tobies.......they're all separated into different tanks now, but once my new 500g is set up, they'll live all happily together under one roof.

Well if you have all of those fish, I want pix of them. Those are like my favorite fish. I love puffers. I would love to have a large tank with puffers in it. They have such a great personality, I could watch them all day. When I have my own house, I would love to have a huge tank with just puffers.

ok silly question can you put a cowfish with a puffer

I think so. Just know that when the cowfis dies, or gets stress it lets off toxins that can cause other tankmates to die.
Otherwise I think that you can keep them together.

well....here goes nothing.....my mappy & hovercraft box...they are 4" and 3" long respectively.as you can see, they are quite photogenic... i think they actually appreciate my taking pix of them....believe it or not...:happyfish :happyfish :happyfish

cubicus box and pajama cardinal....cubicus is only 2.5" long.....he(or she??) is still a baby...but eating like a pig....always begging for more food..it's hard to resist his hungry face...

OMG those are great. I love puffers. I have a ray or I would have another puffer. I love mappas, and the cubious is SO cute. Thanks for sharing. I really appreciate the pix. I can't take pix of mine to share. I love the px they are great.
