alright, lets back up.. first sw tank 30gal 40lbs live sand 60-70lbs live rock since dec 05. couple of snails, hermits an urchin feather duster, cleaner shrimp, yellow watchman goby, lawn mower blenny, purple pseudo, and flame angle.
snails hermits and damsels were first but the damsels(2) died 3 days later. then i added the yellow watchman.huge algea outbreak and got a lawn mower belenny along with some other chems. to straighten that out. a few weeks later i lost my hermits and snails and cleaner shrimp over the course of a few days..i dont know why. levels were perfect. ok no huge loss. i replaced the clenaer, added a purple pseeduo and went on. after that came the urchin, feather duster. everythings going great. a week later came the fame angel and 6trbo snails. the flame had just arrived at the fish store and the water they were in was freezing cold. i dont know how they survived. well i ignored the cold water red flag and bought one anyway. i acclimated the flame for 3 hours. the turbo snails got didnt move after i put them in the tank. the feather duster was the first thing to show signs of distress. its lost its head. week went by snails hadnt moved urchin starts loosing spikes then i notice ich on the flame. paid $40 for "kick ich" with no success. i wanted to use something different but i have no qt and i had inverts
i should have just used copper anyway cause now all the inverst are dead. my purple pseudo was hidding behind the filter at the top and now i cannot find him anywhere. the lawn mower is also hanging out on the filter where the water comes out. the yellow watchman seems fin and so does the feather duster but my flame is coverd in white specks ;even his eyes. im on treatmen week three for kick ich. i really wanted to do corals but i didnt make it that far. it wont be long and everything will be dead. then ill donate the tank to some1 else as it was donated to me. about half of everything in my tank i got for free and i still have invest well over $600 in it. that might not seem like much to some but i am 17 and i have other things to spend my hard earned money on. (like car insurance) i fear now that i can not afford to invest another $600 in this tank to rebuild what was lost. though i have thouroughly enjoyed these fish i just dont think they are worth $200/month. i work a part time job and i olny make $12/hr.
This is my fair warning to all you new hobbyists. I dont mean to discourage but im a little discouraged myself right now. Just be ABSOLUTLEY POSTIVE you know what you are geting into and how expensive it is. good luck.
special thanks to every1 at swf.com. if it wasnt for this messageboard i wouldnt have made it this far. I guess you wont be seeing much of me anymore.

what kind of chems did u add to relieve algae? how many chems total did u toss in the display tank. Also sounds like u didnt take some of the most used advice on the board.. QUARANTINE TANK!
i though urchins werent supposed to be introduced until the tank is established.. I think almost everyone gets discouraged at some point in the first year..
i will have keep 4 fish, and a clean up crew in my tank for a few months b4 i am going to add more fish. It is all about patience. How soon were each fish introduced?
sounds to me like alot of stock for a 3 month old system.

I concur cain420, for a tank thats only 3 months old, I just think you got alittle ahead of yourself in how many things you were adding to the tank. You tank should have just cycled 2 or 3 weeks ago. Maybe this is all that has happened to you and your tank, don't give it up, its great fun, but, you may have to be a little more patient. Oh, and when fish are sitting at the top when its not normal, they are looking for O2.
