I was told to just put my tap water in an bucket and let it sit for 24 hours or morecovered. This is supposed to take all of the crap out naturally. Is this true All I know is my tank seems to be doing great.

Have your tapwater tested at lfs most contain phoshate wich will not go away on its own and causes algie problems not to mention metals and all kinds of junk but phophate is a big no no in salt water. I did the same thing when I started and all of a sudden I was fighting hair algie(yuck) big time.

all my levels have checked out fine at the local fish store
What test where run and what were the results? Most LFS don't test anything other than PH, Ammon, TrItes, and TrAtes. Even if those are "ok", there still is a good possiblity of phosphates and such in tap water.....
