Taxes

I got my first pay check today
1.92 in tax out of 20 i should have gotten.
Now, i do not mind paying these taxes but.. i feel the goverment is in debt to me, today in my history class i "battled" this concept with my teacher and an aide style person for oneof the people in my class, just the 3 of us, as the class was silent. every thing they brought up i battered it, i had a great come back. the aide brought up education so i said, if it's education then consider this, an 18 year old sohpmore, could be stupid, but he can still vote despite the fact he's not smart, so intillect can't be a candidate. i think i won the fight, and then my teacher said," write your local congressman" and i said, " allready in the works" he was dumbfounded so to speak
So i believe i should be exempt from taxes if i can not vote so either, the goverment unmutes me, or leaves my money be.and i for one choose the be unmuted

Get used to it dude. It's one of the sure things in life along with death. Might as well accept it or it will drive you crazy. Don't fret over it too much. Last year my wife and I paid over $30,000 in taxes.

Believe me, I took every write off that I was entitled too. I have an accountant that is an ex-IRS agent that knows every rule to bend to stay legal.
The biggest hits I got were that I did not qualify for the tax credit and I could not write off any daycare expense and I have to reduce the total of my writeoffs by a certain percentage.
This year won't be as bad. I stopped consulting and took a permanent job so I could be home every night to watch my little girl grow up. It was a huge paycut, but some things are just more important than money.
Sorry Fishman, not trying to hijack your thread. Tizzo is right, you will get it all back at the end of the year. I know it blows, but that is the way it is. I understand your point and can't say that I disagree.

ALlright guys!
I got the revised and edited version,it's going out tuesday
Dear,
My name is Jim

[hr]
. As a fifteen year old resident of

[hr]
, New Jersey, I work at

[hr]
Bar & Grill, a local restaurant in my town. I am a table busser, host, and recently, was offered a shift as a food runner. My goals in life are fairly simple, yet almost difficult, I aspire to go to the United States Naval Academy, and then later join the United States Marine Corps; I do this solely out of my love and gargantuas respect for the United States of America, and wish to drive forth to preserve its status as “freedom”. It’s a sense of duty, an obligation if you will that I have with my friend, America. I am permitted to bask in its glory, and as the age of eighteen looms near, life will change, I will be able to vote and I will be able to join the military. My intention to join the United States Marine Corps, I assure you, is not a boyish caprice, nor is it a “fad”, I yearn to serve my country in a way not everyone does, I truly covet to be “The Few. The Proud”.
I want to go beyond putting an American flag on the bumper of my car, beyond having a flag pin on my lapel, beyond having a flag on the front of my house. Americans today should encompass the jingoistic enthusiasm year round, not when something as horrific, maniacal, and belligerent as September 11th, 2001, I shall make a difference in the world, as, much to say as I will be the difference. My generation will one day be the face of America and ultimately the fate of this nation as well. It can start with a vote, because of all the votes in the nation; none would be there if it weren’t for one.
Voting conjures of up memories from my fourth and fifth grade classes, “No taxation without representation!” As I am of the age to be working, and receive checks, I notice that, Uncle Sam has taken part of my pay, that alone I have no problem with, but to take my money, without giving me a voice appears to be almost incongruous! I can’t vote, but I can, and do, pay taxes like Americans over eighteen. I seek equality. I do not believe age should in fact be the differential. I highly believe that if you are being taxed you should be granted the right to vote. I seek not the demise of taxes, but the right to voice my opinion, my vote. My last pay check looked like this, Social Security, $4.34, Medicare, $1.02, federal $1.90, NJ, $1.05, Health/SUI, was $0.27, Work Force, $0.03, the check was originally was for 70 dollars, but I got $61.04, that is over 10% of my pay check that the government took.
I leave you now, to tend your thoughts and thank you for your time.
Sincerely,

one time they took $30 out of a $100 check.......
And the lottery, why should they get the money??? lets take the powerball (or any other million $$$ lotteries) if you win the 100 million jackpot they take 20-30 million of it! im not cmplaining about only haveing 70 million, but come on, what did they do to get that? the money you win is the money other people payed to win. why should they get it, you risked your money to buy it, when they risk nothing.
