Tek T5

I have a 55 gallon tank. dimentions are 36x20x18. I was wondering if i should get the Tek 36" fixture with the 4x39 bulbs or the 6x39 bulbs. I have heard the 6x39 bulbs would be too much light for lower light corals such as mushrooms. Also, i want to have the actinic look at times. So which bulbs would you recomment getting for either the 4 or the 6 bulb fixture. Thanks

The 6x39 should be pretty good for that size tank. I wouldn't bother with the 4x39. It wont be enough light to keep anything but some softies. I have the 6x54 on my 75 and I LOVE it!

the 4x36w will be enough to keep sps on the upper half but if u want no limits than the 6x will be more than enough

6x54 watts is good enough for 90 gallons, right now I am currently running 4x54 watts for 75, I will upgrade to 6 retrofits.
6x54 is best suitable for 90 gallons. I have seen the 90 gallon with 6x54 watts, look so awsome and full tank of SPS looks healthier. my opnion take 6x54 watts. so, bulbs should be 3 ATI Blue plus, one UVL super actinics and Ge 6500k and Aquablue or Aquasun, the color will be 14 k like metal halide.

So for all softies and lps this would be fine? I have a derasa clam as well. I dont have any sps and dont really plan to have any. My question is, would changing to the 4x39 tek t5s be an upgrade to my 285 watts of VHO?

I had a 55g with 4 x 65 p.c.
and had it on my new 110g (72 x 18 x 18) until I got my tek t-5.
The t-5 are 3 x 80watt(60") and there is no comparison. Much more vibrant now!!
As far as the clam I've been told that I have plenty of lighting!

Thanks for the replys. So i have some different responses about the same idea. Can some more people chime in on this. I know i am going to get the Tek fixture but am still unsure of the 4 or 6 bulb. Im feeling like i should get the 6 because i am upgrading and that seems like more of an upgrade. Could it possibly be too much light though?

6 is best choice, 8 is like "WOW". go for 6, you will love it. When I got 4 lights for 37 gallon then I upgraded to 75 with 4x54, and lighting is not look good so I am planning to get 2 more retrofit to 6, I have seen 6 is on 75 and 90 and the size of deep is 18", 6 is fit to 18". no matter if too much the light, you can change the bulbs to fit the lights of tank as much that blend into.

If you can afford it go with 6 bulb fixture, more is always better to me.
Theres so many bulb combination to give you that blue look
Look into the Geiseman and UV bulbs.

Ok i am going to be ordering the 6x39 fixture within the next few days... I want to know an idea of a bulb configuration that you guys would recommend. I want to have two pure actinics in the setup to put them on the front and back to be able to leave them on alone at some points in the day. Then i dont know what to put for the middle 4 bulbs. So far i have this in mind...
These are the lamps i am choosing from...
1. D-D Giesemann Blue Actinic Plus or Blue: $15.00 per lamp
2. D-D Giesemann Sun: $15.00 per lamp
3. D-D Giesemann Aquablue: $15.00 per lamp
4. D-D Giesemann Pure Actinic Plus or True Actinic $15.00 per lamp
Front
Pure Actinic
......

......
Pure Actinic
Thank you all for the help
Oh and one more thing. i would kinda rather have a whiter look while all bulbs are on.
