temp high help!

my tank is at 86 now today its going to be 86 outside how can i lower the temp? cant afford chiller right now

Go to local hardware store a get a couple 4" clip on fans and point them across the surface of the water this will help some,also by doing this your evaporation rate will increase and more top off water than normal will be needed. Hope this helps

In addition to the above, if you have a glass top on the tank or a plastic hood, raise the front or remove it completely. It will help to get the heat out of the tank.

A quick, although emporary fix is to fill a large zip lock freezer bag with ice cubes and float it in your tank. Change the ice as needed. But you do need to find the source of the heat. I would make sure your heater is unplugged as well.

tanks guys I do have tank covered in glass with lights sitting on top. I will have to rig up a temp thing untill hubby builds me a canopy, there is no heater in the tank so I imagine the heat is coming from the lights.
