Temp problems

Well i just got my new 2x95w VHO up and running on top of my 2x95w VHO system....
Before i added the bulbs today my temp was around 82.5 with the heater and two bulbs on.
I added the other two VHO bulbs and turned the timer off to see max temp..... 83.1 with all four
soooo
I am getting a different reading with a free digital thermometer that came with my light order from hello lights dot com
would you trust a mercury thermometer or a cheapo digital?
I need to know because i want to add another VHO setup on my existing 4 bulbs

Well, I had 2 mercury thermos back to back in the same water at the same time and there was a 3 degree difference!! I love my digital, but it wasn't cheap. Do you by any chance have a PH probe? That has an accurate temp reading on it.
