Temp steady at 82- is this ok?

My tank temperature is at a steady 82 degrees. I can't seem to get it any lower than this, but it doesn't seem to get any higher.
My corals, anemones, other inverts, and fish are all doing fine. I have a fan running to keep it cool and the water is cool to the touch with plenty of circulation.
SInce I imagine water in the tropics gets this warm in the shallow reefs can I leave it like this and just make sure it stays at this temp or lower? Ideally I'd like it at 78 but I can't afford a chiller.
Any comments?

Shouldn't be a problem at all. My reef runs at 80-82 all the time in the summer. I also know several people who run tanks at this temp all the time.

I agree that 82 will be fine...personally I think 78-82 works well...important thing is to maintain a stable temp without consistently going lower than 78 or higher than 82...I learned the hard way about going higher when my temp reached 88-90 and I lost a frogspawn and a hammer to higher temps.....but that was due to a heater malfunction!!!

Jim Wolf (A well known Marine Biologist) in his video over and over stated, for a Coral Reef Environment, the ideal temp is 74 but little here and there is ok, but not too far.
We all live in different temp, we don't die. But does that make us happy all the time? More than fish, corals are very much touchy about that subject :D

At 74 dergees you would have to live in a freezer or have one huge chiller if you were using MH bulbs.
80-82 is fine. I have no idea where the 74 comes from.
Eric Bornmam (a well know author)states that those temps are fine. There are alot of opinions out there but with so many tanks running those temps for years I wouldn't sweat it.
You could also do a search and it should yeald alot of results.

saltwaterissocool,
you just asked this same question on another thread where dburr answered you completely differently (you are wrong again)
i would quote it for you, but im sure you will do that for me.
why dont you learn the answers first before you respond.
a good book and a little less BS might help you out.

btw, a reef tank will be fine up to around 84
the natural reef environment reaches these temps on a daily basis, and with the lighting and pumps used on a reef tank, it is sometimes difficult to maintain a temp lower than 80.
das da correct anwres yo! :p
