I'm new at this too, but wouldn't it make sense to set the chiller temp higher than the heater so the two aren't constantly fighting each other?

first off 75 is too cold for a saltwater tank, the ocean is 82 or higher most of the time.
What does your thermometer say your temp range is.

IMO set the chiller at 82 and the heater at 80.

Sounds to me like you don't have enough air moving across your water surface. Is your tank only heating up when your lights are at their fullest?
