I have a size 8 oceanic biocube and the temperature is 85-87.
Is the temperature all right for a reef tank?
I checked all kinds of sights and some of them said that a normal temperature for a reef is 80-90! Is this true? If its not plz tell me an ideal temperature for my reef tank.
Thanks

90 would boil your tank.. mine hit that once accidentally when i turned the heater up as i was taking it out and never checked it when i put it back. 3 of my corals took 3 days to open back up.. Not good. I put a small plug in fan on the back of the tank opened up the back and let it blow into the tank. took it down 5 degress in like an hour.

Ihave the chiller on my 24 g nano set to chill it to 75 degrees whenever it hits 77. The biggest worries you should hvae are too hot, adn how much does the temp fluctuate. Both could kill your fish and corals, If I were you, I would try to keep the temp as close to 80 all the time as possible.

Three things to try...
1) Check you heater to make sure its not malfunctioning. I had the same problem earlier this month. Heater set to 79 and tank temps reached 86. I unplugged the heater (which is 6 months old) and the temp is now 80.
2) Make sure your fan is working in the hood.
3) Open the small feeding lid all day to help the heat escape.

I have a clip on fan but it is on my sump. The LFS guy told me to put it there. It doesnt seem to work, should i just aim it across the top?

You can install a fan(s) into the hood. I bought two oven fans from Radio Shack - took off the hood on my Bio-Cube. One blows down, the other blows up. Easy wiring to do. Keeps my tank at a constant temperature.
