i have a 65 gallon tank with an emperor angel, a flame angel, naso tang, hippo tang, niger trigger, and a striped goby. they were all fine together for a while now but recently started chasing each other. someone suggested i add another fish or two to solve this problem because a new pecking order will be established. is this the right way to go??

Your tank is way too small for one tang, much less three. You need to either upgrade your tank or live with the concequences of unhealthy fish.

yea, lol, you have way too many fish in there even if you didn't have those tangs. not to mention two angels... Troll?

I agree that there are already to many fish in a tank of that size. Emperor's get huge, along with Nigers and the naso. I would try to trade some of them in to your LFS for something a little more suited for that tank.
P.S. Renogaw I didnt know your were on the campain trail haha.

He's got my vote!
Back to the subject at hand - I would also argue that the deduction skills of the person telling you to put more fish in the aquarium is questionable. I mean put more fish in the tank and it wil lbe okay? That makes no freeking sense, thats like saying "well this sauce is too salty, so i think i'll put more salt into the sauce to help" - WRONG!

Personally wondering if this is a real post or not, but at any rate, those fish (the tangs and the emperor angel) don't belong in that tank. Take them back to your LFS and get different ones, preferably fish that don't get more than 5 or 6 inches long as adults.

Well attempting to take this seriously. Even if there were to be a new pecking order estabilished, this will never end in an over crowded tank where there is no more territory to be had.
Less is more... Get rid of the tangs but one, and def get rid of an angel.
I wouldnt be suprised if the aggression of your fish was brought on by dimensia from toxic water.
WOW. In a tank that size with that many fish.. I am scared to see what your water chemistry looks like.

Its entirely possible this is a valid post, so I would ask people to take it seriously...because some SERIOUSLY good advice is needed!!!!!!!!!

Return the Emperor, trigger, naso and hippo immediately, and buy suitable fish for the tank!
Adding more fish will NOT solve this problem, but merely create new (and likely catastrophic) problems with disease and quite likely dead fish.

You bet, way over-stocked, even by my standards. IMO, over-crowding can be a main cause of aggression, even among peaceful fish. Just like over-crowded prisons. As the seems to be your 1st post, welcome! I'd suggest doing some serious reading/research and go slowly. These forums are a great way to learn before you make big mistakes. If this isn't a legit post, you got me. If it is legit, some research will quickly tell you why some folks are questioning it.
