I'm fixing to set up a 10 gal. QT this week. Could you tell me if this will be ok? A penguin bio wheel filter # 125 gph, 100 watt heater, painted bottom on 10 gal. If this will work, how should I set it up for minimum cycle time. Have a 55FOWLR, 45lbslr, and 60lbs ls. Want to get the fish in ASAP. Oh, I have NO2, NO3, ammonia, and ph tests. Thanks -Al

Trigger, so glad to hear that you are going the QT way. You won't regret it.
We have a detailed post in the FAQ thread posted at the top of this forum that should provide you with some good info on setup. Sounds like your plan for QT is certainly on the right track. Remember to paint the bottom on the outside of the tank. Also, while you're painting, you may want to also consider painting the back. Don't paint the sides, as the sides are very useful for viewing shy fish, and, of course, fish in QT need a lot of close up viewing.
If your water in your main tank is good then use 100% water from the display for your QT. You can also seed your filters in your display for about a week to give your filter a jump start.
Take a look at the FAQ Thread, and if you have more questions, please post back!

OK, The QT filter has been running in the display for 4 days. The picasso is looking a little different now. The white spots on the fins have went away and came back just like ich but when some of them moved to the dark places on his body they seem to be worm looking things. I'm not familiar with parasitic deseases but thought ich was supposed to look like fine grains of salt. I can actually see the parasite on the fish. They come and go but aren't spreading very fast. I've had him for 9 days and he still hasn't infected the clown. The picasso is sratching every now and then. Any advice before the QT is ready would be nice. Am planning on treating with copper. QT should be ready this weekend. -Alex

Filter has seeded in display for one week. Filled up QT with display water today and added a piece of shrimp. We'll see how well the bio wheel works on the Penguin filters. Hopefully I'll be adding my fish to QT in a few days. Didn't want a spike from adding the fish so would rather have a cycle. The wheel didn't change colors at all is why the shrimp was added. My wheels on the Emperior 400 in display are solid green/brown. Will post test results on how long this process took me. -Alex

The clown has been in with the picasso for 24 days and he still doesn't have any signs of desease. Should I still put both of them in the 10 gal QT even though he hasn't been infected. -Alex
