Hey, Terry: I have a clownfish [1-1/2 yrs] that has 2 small, white external parasites on its body sides that only shows up when the fish is stressed [like major tank cleanup]. Usually don't even see these parasites, except during a stressful time for the fish. The parasites are always in the same location---one around the head area and the other in the body area on the side of the fish. They look to be the size of ich or, perhaps just a tad larger, but, as I said, only these 2 parasites show up, in exactly the same spots, only when the fish is stressed. After the fish recovers from the stress--could be a day or a wk---then the parasites receede.
What could this be and what would be the best way to threat for this problem? I can't treat this clown as he is in my reef tank and it is impossible to get him, besides, he seems to be "living with the problem" fine so far as I can tell. But, for future reference, if I can catch this problem while a fish is still in QT, that would be nice.
Also, I have read material regarding adding a dose of stress to fish while they are in QT so that problems, such as the one I'm describing here, can be addressed before a fish goes into the display. What do you think of that? Obviously, I missed this parasite while the fish was in QT....
