I am setting up a 55gal fish only tank,I have never had a salt tank before. I have a Fluval 4Plus and I need to get one more filter. I am considering the Tetratec PF500 with the internal heater. Any info on this(good or bad) is appreciated.
Also is there a need for an air pump and stone or will the venturi effect from the fuval take care of that?
Thanks for the help

You shouldn't need any more airation than what you will get from your filters. I have heard many good things about the Tetra Tec filters as well, and I am planning on getting two for my new setup. The thing that makes them cool is the water outlets are like powerheads and the one on the right pulses on and off creating waves. The other cool thing is that the heater is internal as you said which is nice as its hidden way.
Instead of getting one 500 I would go with two of the smaller ones. You will get better circulation that way and you can have two heaters as well. That could come in handy if one of them fails you will still have the other heater going.

I love mine, the only thing is that they are deeper than normal hang on filter and you will need to have the extra clearence behind your tank also if your light sits on your tight around the top of your tank they will push it forward. They do operate nicely though and I like mine. Best hang on I've had. ;)
