When I had my huge 125 gal setup before, when I would do a water change, I of course would use a siphon that pulled up the samd to get out wastes, etc. in the sand.
Is this how you all do water changes, or is it best to actually leave the sand untouched and just siphon out the water, and then replacing it with new?
It seems that even though I had a wet/dry, plus a skimmer, that the longer the tank was up and running the higher my levels got for things like nitrates and ammonia. I mean dangerously bad. But surprisingly enough, the fish that had been in the tank for a long time lived through it like it was no big deal.
Now, I'm running a 29 gallon, easier to manage for me, plus a lot less $$$$$!
Looking forward to getting more LR and maybe one of the saltwaterfish.com invert pkgs.
If anyone has pics of the live rock they've gotten from these guys, I'd appreciate seeing them, right after it's arrived of course (not months after being inside the tank!!)
