hi all! just got my 150 gallon tank up and running today (after 9 1/2 hours of running around and lifting things i never want to lift again). i came from a 55 gallon tank, moved all the water/rocks and most of the sand over. and the fish, of course.
here is the current "specs" on my tank:
150 gallon tank. 48'' long, 24'' "deep" or however u define it, and im not sure the exact height, but it comes up to my chin. lol
fish
Porcupine Puffer (4-5" currently)
Lawnmower Blenny (4'' currently)
Midas Blenny (2.5-3'' currently
Misbar Clownfish (2.5'' currently)
small Leopard Puffer (might be a inch and a half long, if that)
inverts
chocolate chip starfish
sand sifting starfish
cleaner shrimp (rather large now. might be 3'' long? bigger than i see in any LFS, i know that)
3 turbo snails
pink and yellow sea cucumber
spider decorator crab
tons and tons of tiny feather dusters and one large hawaiian feather duster.
filter
not sure of the name brand or w/e, but its a sump. has the overflow box in the tank and hanging off the back of the tank, goes down 2 hoses into the top of the sump, where it has "filter floss", then goes through some holes into a chamber of Bio-Balls, then goes through a filter media, and then into the pump, back into the tank.
amount of live rock
its around 50 pounds of live rock. give or take
amount of sand
maybe 30-40 pounds? enough to cover the bottom of the tank if i really spread it out
ok. how many/how big of fish can i add to this new tank? i figure pretty much anything short of a grouper lol. but some cool suggestions are welcome!

i was thinking of some tangs. im still very leery about this tank...just keep worrying that the hoses will pop off or something like that. but i checked them all and they are pretty secure. the one i had trouble with i duck-taped lol. just had to jerry-rig part of a hose connector because it was leaking on to the top of the sump. just got a spare hose and a piece of duck tape and put it in a half-circle around the spare hose and put it right under the leak and the other end into the pump area. hope to have it actually fixed tomorrow. not 100% sure how though. :/

pictures will come tomorrow. im wiped today...lol. its a pretty thin crack in the nozzle of the hose, but it covers half the top within 10 minutes. i think i have it taken care of for the night. was able to cut a opening in the hose so i could actually slide it under the leak rather than have it up against it. and with the aid of MORE duck tape, it seems to be working. i have thought of just drilling some holes in the top of the lid where its leaking so it can just go down to the filter floss chamber. kind of a work-around.

What is the hose connected to..rather how.
Flex hose is pretty cheap and I use barb connections and plastic clamps, all very cheap and easy to adjust, I also put valves on the hoses so I had better control. But to be sure we give you the right advice show the entire unit, then from point A where the hose connects to your filter/sump.. then take a picture of point B where it feeds into. I hope that makes sense.

the picture in my last post was where it connects to the sump. this pic im posting now is the connection to the overflow. EDIT: added a better picture.

ok. i have a temporary fix for the hose (just took it off the sump connector and put it directly to the open area of the sump, where the pump is.) and this should hold me over until the new hose arrives weds or thurs (my LFS is closed Tuesday or it would probly come then). everyone seems to be doing good in the tank. especially the Porcupine Puffer. took a water sample down to the LFS to check the nitrates, and they are down to 16. they were 36 before i moved it all to the 150. it was measured with the LFS owners digital test kit, so i would assume its pretty accurate.
pix of the tank are coming soon. might be a bit....scarce as far as LR, but there is at least 40 pounds in there, probably around 50. haven't had them all in a bucket to weigh.
