As per your instructions, I went and saw it.
It was ok.
I liked the two extra scenes at the end of the movie.
There were also some pretty comical moments that made it seem less serious.
All around I really enjoyed it.

Never EVER leave a Stan Lee movie until the screen goes black for good. I left during the credits of the first Iron Man movie and kicked myself when I learned that after the credits was the scene introducing Nick Fury.
I'm a big Iron Man fanatic; been so ever since high school. I have an Iron Man comic book collection beginning with issue #5 from 1968.

Rick - I'm curious, how old are you? I usually have a general idea of forum member's age and I can't really pin point to your age except that you sound young.
As far as movie went, it was over all good movie. Great? Maybe. In all caps GREAT? Not really.
3D was good but it was done post shot so that it wasn't too eye popping as much as I would have liked. I paid extra for that darn it!!
But with this many characters coming in together in this amount of time, they did what they could and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Of course, Robert Downey Jr once again did a phenomenal job as Tony Stark and literally carried what seems like the whole movie at times. Hulk was good, good humor which was surprising element for the big green but Thor (I enjoyed his move) wasn't as good as I expected him to be and other two shield agents were well.. extras..
Captain America was just an eye candy for the girl friends/wives that came out with the fellas but his presence wasn't really impressive. Could have made things more dramatic and had him take out one of the big worm like creature imho.
Well put together movie, may be I had too much expectations but doesn't get the all thumbs/ all CAPS praise from me.

care to explain in detail? I would like to know on which part you wanted to be more dramatic. (Sorry, I'm a huge movie buff)

I have Iron Man #1-18, 20-59, then from about 60-300 only missing about 12 more total

Yeah, I thought it was okay. A few years ago I probably would have liked it a lot more. It was missing something and I think I know what it was. There was no love interest. Now, I'm not being soft, but think about it. Thor had Jane, Captain America had Peggy, Iron Man had Pepper, and the Hulk had Betty Ross. All of these movies had this subplot. Now, one could argue that it existed in the Avengers, but in my opinion it was seriously lacking. Before you flame me, I am not trying to have the dissenting opinion and I realize that people don't see these movies for the love interests. With that said, I can't wait to see The Amazing Spider-man. Andrew Garfield is awesome, it has the same director as 500 Days of Summer, I like the angle they decided to go with, and most importantly-Emma Stone is incredibly hot.

My dad has a bunch of comics in his closet from the 60s and 70s. I didn't think they were that important. Maybe I should be asking him if I could go through em' lol who knows what kind of gold mine he is sitting on.

I avoided reading this until I saw the movie.....which I just got back from tonight.
First, I have to say it. GREAT summer popcorn flick. I don't go to these kinds of movies for "deeper meaning," I go for a Friday night fling to escape reality for a few hours, and that's exactly what I got. I'm what you call an armchair comic book fan, in that I love a lot of these characters but I deliberately don't go comic book shopping (for fear of gaining a new addiction, mostly). So I know them peripherally, and I've seen all the individual movies leading up to this.
Overall I'd say they did a fair job covering the characters. This one had a LOT more humor than most of the others, and had the audience laughing through the film. Interestingly, my wife didn't think Captain America was the eye candy; her favorite was Tony Stark every time. Personally I'll pick the Black Widow scenes. Scarlett Johansson in tight black leather?? Yes, please.

If you ask me I'd say the Hulk was one of the best played parts in the film. I loved his character, and almost felt bad for Loki in that pivotal Hulk/Loki scene. Almost.
Sip, I agree that Thor wasn't quite as well written in this movie as he was in his own film, but I think it's just the way the cards fell. There were a LOT of characters to cover here, and sometimes one or two take secondary places to move the story forward. You see that a lot in Star Trek films, too.
Oh, and before y'all ask me MY age, I'm 187 years old and still have most of my own hair.
