The best hang on skimmer?

I'm trying to find recommendations for the best hang-on-back skimmer. I have a Seaclone at the moment and it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Thanks.

Remora, Remora Pro, Precision Marine, Lifereef, Tunze, are all fantastic hang-on skimmers.

My Aquarium Systems skimmer bites. The connections are difficult to get leak-proof. I would not buy another.

I also had the remora pro with the prefilter box. That thing was incredibly efficient. Excellent skimmer!

Ok, I have a new question.
Would the regular Remora Aqua C be enough for a 75 gallon tank with a heavy bio load? I'm hearing so many conflicting stories about this skimmer: some say it's for 50g or less, some say it's for 65g or less, and others say it's for 75g or less. If it's too small for a 75 gallon tank, what about the Remora Pro would make it more efficient? I would think that as long as the collection cup is emptied frequently the regular would work for me, but I'm no expert. The Remora Pro hang on is extremely hard to find on ----, where I do most of my shopping.
As far as the Seaclone 100 and the Seaclone 150, the only difference I saw in the two was the size of the skimmer body. I'm not sure why a bit of extra plastic would make a difference in efficiency.

:happyfish Good Morning!
I have my Remora on my 75 gallon tank with a pre-filter box and it is working GREAT!! I have only four fish but will put two more as time goes by. The fish are Yellow Tang, Fire Goby, Tomato Clown and Yellow Headed Jawfish. Two Anemones, four Hairy Mushrooms, Green Star Polyp, Zooanthids and Leather coral 4 small ones. And a large clean up crew! 88 pound of Tonga Live Rock and 80 pounds of reef sand.

For a heavily loaded 75 gallon aquarium. I'd definately go with the Remora Pro instead of a standard Remora, along with the Mag3 upgrade. I also suggest the pre-skimmer box addition.
On a side note, I'm reading Calfo's Coral Prop book and he's advising that aquariums have two different skimmers on them. Preferably one being a counter-current style(?) and another being a different type.

Thanks. I'll probably go with the Remora Pro. I've read several reviews saying that the Mag 3 pump is noisy. Is this true? I can't imagine the pump itself being noisy, maybe the skimmer. The maxijet 1200 is completely silent when the air is turned off. Nothing can be more noisy than a Seaclone.
I've also heard that people get foam from a Remora skimmer after the first day or so of use. I've had a Seaclone on a heavily-stocked tank for two weeks and have NO foam whatsoever (except a little at the top of the tube). I've adjusted the air a hundred times but am getting nothing. My water has developed a slight yellowish tint, so there's more than enough waste for the skimmer to pick up.
On another note, can anyone explain the break-in period of a skimmer? What about the skimmer needs to get broken in? It seems if there's a heavy bio load it should start working right away or at least after a couple days. A few years ago I had a cheap, hang on filter/skimmer combo (paid $40) and got yellow foam on the first day. It's since bit the dust, but worked great for the money I paid. I now have this huge Seaclone that does nothing after two weeks aside from driving me crazy with a constant hissing noise.
Remora, here I come!

I have a standard Remora with Maxi-jet 1200. So I can't say anything about the Mag3 being noisy. I used to run a Mag 7 return pump on a sump and never noticed that being noisy though.
I understand the frusteration over the Seaclone. I had one for 2-3 weeks with it not skimming before ordering the Remora. It started pulling gunk out on the second day.
Two things occur during a skimmer break-in.
1. Chemical residue from the manufacturing process is removed.
2. Bacteria(?) coats the inside reaction chambers to promote turbulance(?)
The first step can be reduced by washing with warm water, no soap, the skimmer before installing. The second step just takes time and I'm not positive if thats what happens.

Thanks, Dan. Is your standard Remora much quieter than the Seaclone? I don't even think my fish can sleep with all this racket. Ever since I installed it they seem to be up all night, whereas before they would stay in their caves until I turned the light on.
I think I'll be taking it down today...it's totally useless without being modified IMO. Hopefully the Pro won't take too long to arrive...

No problem. Although my remora is quieter than the seaclone that I had, its not silent. I can deffinately hear the venturi pulling air in, but I don't find the noise obnoxious even being in my living room.
