I use oceanic and I love it. It has perfect PH, Alk, Calcium and mixes well.

I am a new hobbyist, and use Oceanic as well. I haven't had any parameter issues as of yet, so I like it so far. My corals also seem to be doing quite nicely as well with it.

I used Reef Crystals and I just switched to Tropic Marin. -- had a low calcium and alk level. I am hoping to add less chemicals to my tanks. ONly done 2 water changes though. Mixes up very clear and fast. Clearest salt I have ever seen. I have heard that Oceanic has PH issues, but have never used it. Many people say thay cant get PH about 7.9-8.0. I keep mine at 8.3-8.4 and it works very well.

Red Sea Coral Pro. It has the best trace element results that I've seen in a salt and I've used Oceanic and Instant Ocean in the past. I'd use Oceanic again for a FO or FOWLR tank, but I'm stuck on this one for the reef.

Greetings

I use Tropic Marin. It was recommended by someone knowledgeable at the LFS and I have had good luck with it. I am thinking of switching to Tropic Marin Pro when I run out (I buy it in 200G buckets) for the increased calcium and trace elements. I will be starting a large stocking effort in the near-future that will include clams and my first SPS corals and the additional calcium will likely be needed. It should also help minimize dosing requirements - something I try to avoid.

I have used instant ocean, tropic marin, tropic marin pro, seachem, reef crystals, Kent Sea Salt, and I am currently using seachem.
If you switch from Instant Ocean Reef Crystals to kent sea salt or seachem, you will kill everything in the tank, at least in my experience. Certain salts don't mix well with each other.

This is true, you would need to switch from a natural to a natural or a synthetic to a synthetic, but you can't go from natural to synthetic, or visa versa.

That is a huge piece of knowledge that a lot of people probably don't know.

I use Oceanic as well, one because of what was said before. All my tests are always spot on I never need to dose anything. And secondly, my LFS offers premixed blend of RO/DI salt, and they use Oceanic too. So it doesnt matter if I mix my own or buy theres, I can be lazy and its ok..

I use Reef Crystals and why does everyone say it has low calcium and alkalinity? Calcium is 390, just a little low and alkalinity is 3.6 which is about average. I tested these on a freshly mixed bucket (circulating for 12 hrs).
