The "BIG CHANGE"

I have a 55 Gal. tank with 65 lbs. LR, Two Clowns, 1 Coral Beauty, 1 Naso Tang (small) and a clean up crew, I have a Fluval canaster filter, and a "Bio" wheel type filter that hangs on the back, and a UGF with two power heads. The tank has been up and running for almost a year with no major problems, my water conditions are right on the money. I would like to go to a live sand bed instead of the CC with the UGF.
How do I go about changing out the UGF and putting in the live sand bed ( after all that I have been reading I have been lucky with my UGF) any advice would be of great help.

Hi Tara - welcome to the board. Use the search feature in the top right corner of your screen and type in "UGF" or "remove UGF" and you should find several threads about this.
I had the same question some time ago. One reader did theirs by dropping the water level, digging out the CC on one half of the tank and then removing the plate from that side. Then do the other side, add your sand and replace the water and wait for the water to clear.
Good luck!
