Today my lfs got a porcupine puffer that is at least a foot long. I am not exaggerating at all, maybe I could get a pic of him. They said when he arrived and they opened the box....he was puffed up....he said he looked like a basketball with spikes.

I had this guy a few years ago...he was a little over 12". Sadly, he was stung and killed by a 6" - 8" Foxface that I'd taken in, as a refugee.

I've seen a HUGE Stars and Stripes puffer. This thing was well over 12" long, and at least 10" in diameter for sale for $99!!!

When diving a wreck in Aruba a couple of years ago, we saw this pair of puffers just hanging out. The larger was about 3 1/2 feet long. Not sure what kind of puffers they are, porcupines maybe? Sorry for the pic quality, but you get the idea.

What a coincidence, I was at one of the LFS here in Vegas last week and they have a huge Stars & Stripes Puffer. I've seen them large before, but this bad boy was at least 12". I had to take a cpl pics. Took them with my cell phone so quality isn't that great.
Enjoy....

Those are my favorite puffers. Their scientific name is diodon hystrix and they're commonly called spotted burrfish. I wanted to get one but as you mentioned they get way to big for a regular aquarium. Hopefully I can get a 1,000 gallon aquarium in the future and keep one.

Well, my lfs sold the puffer before I could get a pic. I think he sold for $200 bucks. Was a beautiful fish for sure.
