Got a couple movie threads going in here, nice....
Anyone seen The Fighter yet? Think Life-Reefer was going to see it? I normally do a bit of research before seeing a film, but I knew based on the lineup, I thought The Fighter would be decent and had only mid-range expectations. What I realized as the credits started to roll, was how wrong I was. The story/plot itself was mild at best, but the film's direction, and the performances turned out by the actors, was simply on another level. Christian Bale is a lot like Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. We know they're good, really good. But because they're playing today, we take that a bit for granted, and in terms of historic greatness, don't rank them as high as we should. After watching The Fighter, Christian Bale has to be one of the best actors, certainly of at least the modern era. And Marky Mark.... Thoroughly impressed by Wahlberg, held every bit his own, opposite Bale's, liking Oscar winning, performance.
