I lost my flame angel Monday night. bur I can't figure out why? I had him since my tank had been set up (7 mos). All of my fish were doing great. My wife thiught he looked a bit pale in comparison to his usually bright orange color. He was eating like a pig. No one was bothering him. Just don't get it............

This type of angel has been having difficulties in the hobby as of late. Seven months seems like a long time, but perhaps he had been deteriorating over a period of time...evidenced by the lack of color your wife noticed.
I love the way this fish looks, but it just seems like to high of a risk to get them. There has been much talk of the catching of this particular fish with cyanide.
Sorry to hear about your loss...will you be replacing him with another flame or are you going to try something different?

Whenever I hear of Flames dieing I remember what my favorite lfs owner told me once regarding them. That was they do fine for about 6 months and then they die (that had been their experience with that fish over the years they were in business (11).

I hear the same thing about flames from alot of people, I had mine for about six months and the same thing he just died. No one around here has been able to figure out why that happens. Some say it is how they are caught, I don't know. Good Luck

oh great, I hope the luck is with me. I have had my Coral Beauty for 6 months now. I'd hate to see him go. Such a nice peaceful, non trouble, pretty fish.
