THE HOBBIT

Anyone else excited? Peter Jackson is a legendary director, and IMO The Lord of the Rings is the best movie trilogy there is. The Return of the King is a tear-jerker when Bilbo, Frodo, and the Elves leave the Shire, but it's still a wonderful movie, and one of my favorites of all, along w/Forrest Gump.

My friend already got us tickets! I'm pretty excited to see it. She is dressing up like an elf and wants me to dress up as well. I don't know how I feel about that. We are also going to have a movie marathon beforehand. So yeah, I'm excited. I haven't read this book in a long time, so I'm reading it again now. It is a phenomenal book. It really doesn't matter how young I was or how old I get; this is still one of my favorite books.

Looking forward to it but still am not sure how they are going to stretch it into 2 movies since IIRC it was the shortest of all the books

While LOTR was a great trilogy, it still has nothing on the original Star Wars Trilogy. Sacrilige!

I have a feeling that The Hobbit Trilogy will stomp the first through the third Star Wars movies, just sayin'
But to be entirely honest, these trilogies aren't comparable. You might as well say that Toy Story beats them both.

please tell me you are not referring to episodes 4 through 6 and are meaning 1 through 3. If this is the case no one ever said the were good.

I was referring to the newest 3 that were made. I feel like this is a comparable situation. Star wars was amazing and then they added 3 prequels. The same thing is happening here. But we will have to wait and see.

I saw it opening day with my friend. I'd post a picture of her costume, but I had better ask first. She even paid for me which was awesome. I've seen it two other times. I only paid once. I have some good friends. Coming from someone who typically prefers to not see a movie in 3D, the 3D is worth it. It is spectacular. I have no idea about the framerate. I wasn't told that it was 48, so I assume that it wasn't. In any case, having seen it in 2D and 3D, I recommend paying the extra few dollars.

Trust me, you would know if you saw it in HFR. Looked totally different than any other movie you've ever seen. Closer to a live performance than a movie. It was cool, but also a bit distracting at times. I will definitely see the next 2 in the standard 24 frames per second when they come out. I do agree about the 3D thou. Really fantastic. First movie that the 3D was better than Avatar.

The movie was good...not as well done as the LOTR trilogy but good. Skip the 3d, it isn't needed.
Did you see it with or without 3d? It was very well done. Needed, no.... But I did think it added to the feel of the movie

I would agree that it is not as well done as the LOTR trilogy, but it had a lot to live up to. It was certainly very different. In my opinion (feel free to disagree), this one was much funnier than any of the LOTR movies. It was not quite as good, but I was certainly not disappointed (hence why I saw it 2 more times and will probably see it again in the near future). I would recommend paying the extra dough for the 3D, but it is not needed. This might sound silly (as content, writing, acting, and just about everything else is more important), but the stunning New Zealand scenery looked so much more beautiful in 3D. I certainly wouldn't condemn those who don't like the 3D or want to see it in 3D.

In my mind, that statement proves how good the 3d was if you didn't even realize you were watching it after a while
