the kole tang issue

Hi, my dad got a kole tang about 3 months ago and everthing was going great he was a beautiful fish. He ate swam around alot and everything was great. As time passed the poor lil guy seemed to be losing weight and started to lose his color. My dad thought it was due to having so many fish in his tank at the time, (he felt the kole tang would be his last fish) he wasnt getting enough to eat. So I told him if he wanted Id take the lil guy, and I put him in my tank last night and he ate alge growing on my live rock like all my tangs do. He wouldnt touch the alge clip (red alge) nor would he eat much mysis or brine, I also tried formula 1 and 2 and nothing. Any one think they can help me and this lil guy?
125 gal
tank mates: Blue Hippo Tang, Powder Brown Tang, Blue Damsel, And a Niger Trigger my tank is oddly friendly lol but thats a good thing, so he hasnt been bullied.

i have a 125 gal as of right now. Im slowly getting a 250 gal ready to go, I know I thought 3 tangs was a little much but no one seems to be messing with him I moved the rock work around b4 I put him in to be safe. He just doesnt seem to be interested in anything I put in there. Im not going to be getting any more tangs I can tell you that since Ive been paranoid already about them fighting luckly so far everyone seems to be getting along just fine. Is there anything I can try to get him to eat more?

Hi,
Aside from the algae sheets..I don't know. Try sea weed algae sheets, he should like that.

It isn't at all unusual for any fish, much less that sounds like its been stressed, to take a few (or several days) to eat. Is he grazing at all on the LR? He should eat about anything, may just need some time. Also, I'd keep a good eye on things. A stressed tang, with no QT, added to a tank with tangs is a classic case of ich (or other parasite) waiting to happen--unless you're sure both tanks were parasite-free.

Try adding some Garlic Xtreme to your food before feeding...that helped my lavender get interested in food.
I am also now completely sold on making my own food...I know what is put into it and I KNOW that it is fresh. I used shrimp, mussels, scallops, oysters, cod loin, green and purple algae, and garlic Xtreme....I have yet to see a fish that doesn't go NUTS over this stuff!

Funny you say that because my bristletooth tang does the same thing, Will eat everything else though. Except mine doesn't devour the algae sheets like my yellow and hippo tangs used to do so I cut back in using them.
